The Fix That Finally Solved my Problem...

The Fix That Finally Solved my Problem...

"Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" error when you try to install Windows updates

If you have had trouble updating your system with required updates that are supplied from Microsoft, I am here to help get you to a quick and somewhat labor intensive solution. As a side note, I had several folks tell me to just stay at Windows 7 until Windows 10 or something even better comes out. Good advice be damned, I updated anyway only to realize what I updated to was Windows 8 not the "new and improved" Windows 8.1 . My mistake, Windows 8 brought me back to the time I purchased a very nice Toshiba Satellite with Windows XP on it and was "lured" into thinking that the free upgrade to Vista was such a great bonus. So much for that Toshiba.

Fast forward 10 years to my new laptop and I appeared to be stuck with the new edition of Vista. Well after intense labor on user forums, I finally found what sounds to be a very easy solution. "go to the Windows update center and install the updates 1 or a few at a time"  Sounded pretty easy and in concept it was. However most of the updates required a restart after it's installation. So BEWARE it will take a long time to sift through the logjam of updates. (I had 84 to go through) That being said, the updates installed and my Free upgrade out of Windows 8 purgatory and into the unknown world of Windows 8.1 is underway.

Worth noting that as of February 2015 Windows 10 is in Beta and I am told that the improvements will be immense.

Stay tuned for my fix on how to update that one.....
